AUTHOR VISITS
I love to visit schools and meet the young readers in person while hopefully imparting a bit of knowledge to them. My programs involve lots of student participation and visual effects.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS:
MAKING A CHILDREN'S BOOK
This lively program shows the steps involved in making a picture book, from getting ideas, writing, editing, illustrating, and printing to finished product. Lots of props and student participation.
Grades: 3-6
TEXAS HISTORY
Texas history comes to life with lots of artifacts and lively student participation.
Grades: 3-7 (shorter program available for grades 1-2)
AMERICAN HISTORY
American history, with emphasis on the Westward Expansion. Many artifacts and student participation.
Grades 5-8
THE LOTUS SEED
Reading of The Lotus Seed followed by program about immigrants coming to America. Props and student participation.
Grades K-2 (shorter program)
WRITING WORKSHOPS -- Price depends on length of presentation and size of audience. I also give workshops for adults. Contact me for details.
FEES INCLUDE: Honorarium plus travel expenses
Honorarium fee starts at $250 per presentation (for schools within 100 miles)
Two schools may split the day. No more than four presentations per day.
Travel costs include: transportation, lodging and meals, where applicable.
Discounts available for multiple schools in one area.
