I have been honored to perform hundreds of author visits across the USA and in several Asian countries. l love to visit schools and meet the young readers and their teachers in person while hopefully imparting a bit of knowledge. My programs involve lots of student participation and props.
FEES INCLUDE: Honorarium plus *travel expenses
Honorarium fee starts at $250 for first presentation (for schools within 100 miles)
No more than four presentations per day.
Two schools in the same area may split the day.
Discounts available for multiple schools in one area.

*Travel costs include: transportation, lodging, and meals, where applicable. PROGRAM DESCRIPTIONS:
1) MAKING A CHILDREN'S BOOK (~50 minutes)
This lively program shows the steps involved in making a picture book, from getting ideas, writing, editing, illustrating, and printing, to finished product. Lots of props and student participation. Grades: 3-6
2) TEXAS HISTORY (~55 minutes)
Texas history comes to life with lots of artifacts and lively student participation. Covers Native Americans to discovery of oil. Grades: 3-7 (shorter program available for grades 1-2)
3) THE LOTUS SEED (~45 minutes)
Reading of The Lotus Seed followed by program about immigrants coming to America. Props and student participation. Grades 2-5
4) FICTION WRITING WORKSHOPS -- Price depends on length of presentation and size of audience. I also give longer workshops for adults. Contact me for details. Grades 4 and up, adults.
