Dear Teachers and Librarians:

Scholastic, Inc. has devoted part of their website to the Dear America Series. Unfortunately, the Discussion Guides and Interviews with the Author for the two Dear America books I wrote are no longer available on the Scholastic website.
A LINE IN THE SAND:
The Alamo Diary of Lucinda Lawrence
Gonzales, Texas 1836
VALLEY OF THE MOON:
The Diary of Maria Rosalia de Milagros
Sonoma Valley, Alta California 1846

Christine Echeverri has written a wonderful Interdisciplinary History Curriculum text called: CALIFORNIA: OUTSIDE THE BOX. Section II (Antiguo), Part 2: Missions and Ranches (pp. 51-91) VALLEY OF THE MOON is the book used to discuss this subject. I highly recommend this text for California teachers, and parents of home-schooled childen. Here is the website:
NOTE: I am currently in the process of getting permission to reprint a limited number of copies of A LINE IN THE SAND to sell to schools, libraries and students.
